St. Mark Youth Enrichment leads a variety of community initiatives, including Apples for Students (Fill the Bag) through which we provide school supplies to more than 3,600 area students; and the Sponsor Angels program through which we provide warm winter clothing to students in need.

Opportunities

A core base of more than 250 active volunteers enables St. Mark Youth Enrichment staff to plan and facilitate programs and services for children and families. Dozens of volunteer opportunities are available. Join St. Mark Youth Enrichment to help give back to Dubuque's greatest resource: children.

All our volunteers are equally essential to the success of our programs. There are four great ways to make a difference that meet a wide variety of our volunteers' schedules and interests.

Volunteer Form
Mentors

Mentors are individuals who are committed to spending time and developing a relationship one-on-one with the same student over an extended period of time. Mentors meet with their assigned mentee a minimum of 1 hour per week (4 hours per month) during our regular program hours at the school sites. Individuals who wish to make a significant impact on one child's life and can commit to meeting with their mentee once a week for at least the duration of the school year are strongly encouraged to contact Amanda Avenarius, Associate Director, at 563.582.6211 x105 or aavenarius@stmarkyouthenrichment.org to learn more about this exciting opportunity.

Special Activity Volunteers

Special Activity Volunteers bring a special activity or lesson to our students to enrich the regular program curriculum. For example, students enrolled in a Shakespeare class at Loras College brought 3 classic plays to life for our students. This type of service is ideal for groups, clubs, or businesses that are passionate about their field of interest and are ready to spend some time sharing it with our children. Contact Amanda Avenarius, Associate Director to find out how you or your group can expand our students horizons! Special Event Volunteers

Whether you are into dressing up and helping at the Legacy of Learning Annual Dinner, sorting and packing school supplies for Apples for Students, shopping or wrapping gifts of warm winter clothing for Sponsor Angels, or organizing Ice Golf, we have a position for you!
